Lloyd Herman Miller, 72, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.Mr. Miller was born April 11, 1943 in New London, the son of Carl and Doris Dadisman Miller. He was a graduate of New London High School and a member of Wesley Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. He served in the National Guard.He was a welder at Heatilator for over 30 years. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed golf, and favored the Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeye football team. He coached in a softball league for many years.Mr. Miller is survived by a daughter, Cora VanDeWalker (George Sonnee) of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Kenneth Miller of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Connie, Christopher, and Brent Kracht, Michael and Aiyanna Miller; two great-granddaughters, Natalie Marie and Audrey Jade Kracht; brothers and sisters, June (Don) Angstead, Ed Miller and David (Hazel) Miller, all of New London, Carolyn Christner of Wayland, Dr. Don (Carol) Miller of Washington, Bob Miller of Cedar Rapids, Jack Miller of Mt. Pleasant, Sherry Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, uncle Kenneth Miller, sister-in-law Connie Miller, and nephew Jesse Miller.Funeral services for Mr. Miller will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor Jeff McPheron will officiate. Burial will be held in Burge Cemetery, rural New London. Visitation will begin after 9:00 AM on Tuesday, with the family greeting friends from noon until 2:00 PM. Memorials have been established for bowling and softball scholarships.
